The Big Al News Network has been informed that there has been another member added to the Big Al's Class of 2009. Baby Ethan was born in early April to Big Al's good friends Marc "Alfonso" Soriano and Aihmee "Quintin" Tolentino. Congrats!

Big Al's Snail

This is a snail that I found in Mountain View. It does not talk. It does not move very fast. It does not fly. It cannot swim. It's just a snail.

Big Al - a suspected terrorist?

I was making a connection from Philadelphia to Detroit (via Akron airport). During my 1 hour stop in PHL I took out my camera and started taking pictures of the planes and the airport hallway and lobbies. Apparently this is a no-no. I was quickly told (not asked) to stop taking pictures. No "please", no "thank you" - just "that is your last picture". It wasn't even from a security guard, but a US Airways desk clerk. I'll send a letter to the US Airways Corporate Office to educate their employees on their "please" and "thank you's".

("Oh no! He's taking pictures of Hudson News and InMotion Entertainment! Stop him!")

Have a safe and happy Easter!

Big Al's welcomes Lauren Hyori to the Big Al Class of 2009

Just wanted to congratulate Quincy & Jaime on the birth of Lauren Hyori. Lauren Hyori was born on Wednesday, April 1 at 4:51pm at a 8 pounds, 15 ounces. Wow!

Lauren Hyori is the first member of the Big Al Class of 2009. I wish her the best. Call me in April 2027.

Effective immediately, Big Al has suspended any jokes and sacastic remarks towards Q. This will expire sometime next week or whenever I see Q next - whichever comes first.

Big Al meets The Beat.. or Thabeet

Just another celebrity encounter while I was at the Final Four. During North Carolina's celebration I was able to get a quick shot of University of Connecticut's center - Hasheem Thabeet. He's expected to be a Top 5 draft pick - maybe as high as #3.

(Thabeet wasn't too happy to take a picture with me. He needs to learn people skills from Okafor.)

Big Al is at the Final Two

I've been a lot of sporting events, some of which are very memorable - The 2002 World Series, The 2006 Winter Olympic Games, The 2007 Sweet Sixteen, The 2001 A's vs. Yankees game with the Jeter throw, The 2007 Delahoya vs. Pacquiao fight and the 1992 Little Bruin Tournament at SP-SV. Tonight I add one more to the list - the 2009 Final Four. Make sure you tune in tonight at 6:00pm PST for the tip off of the game between the Michigan St. Spartans and the University of North Carolina Tar Heels.

Big Al checks out The 8 Mile Road

Sunday is an off day for the NCAA Men's Tournament, so we decided to play tourist in the Detroit area. Of course any visit to Detroit is not complete unless you take some time to check Eminem's 8 Mile Road. It's quite an interesting place if you have never been exposed to places like the V, Richmond, Oakland or Milpitas... beyaaattchh!! Here are a few pictures for those of you spoiled folks that always need the latest and greatest. Appreciate what you got!

(Just checking in from 8 Mile Road. No bulletproof vest necessary.)

(8 Mile Road is the symbolic divide from the poor black neighborhoods and the richer white suburbs)

(Be happy with what you have.)

Big Al is at the Final Four

Big Al took a spontaneous trip to Motown to celebrate the NCAA Final Four. This place is crazy nuts since Michigan State is right down the street. Anyways, I just got back to the hotel after hanging out at Ford Field all day. My condolences to the fans of Villanova University and UConn - you'll get them next year. I'll be back at Ford Field with the other 70,000 faithful for the UNC vs. State game for the bestest college basketball team in the universe!

(Detroit, Ford Field, Riser 9, Row 46, Seat 16 - Big Al and his closest 70000 friends enjoying the greatest sporting event on Earth.)

(Big Al and Emeka Okafor hanging out at the Final Four. You and the Huskies will get them next year Okafor.)

(Duck, Big Al and some other Michigan State fan in front of Ford Field. Go Green! Go White!)

Big Al signs a 1 season deal with Longitude of the Twin Creeks League

It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to part ways with The LastCut softball club. The last 4 seasons have been great, but due to a few unfortunate events I have decided to focus on my efforts with Longitude of the Twin Creeks Complex Softball League. Last night I signed a 1 season deal to be the starting 2nd Baseman for Longitude - a position that has always been my dream and passion. While my deal expires in late June, I have asked my agent to cease any talks with possible future suitors until the end of the season. My #1 job is to win a shirt and not worry about dollars and cents.

I have tremendous respect for The LastCut players, the front office, the fans and for the city of Sunnyvale - West. Although my jersey will say Longitude, my heart will always be with The LastCut.
