A southbound train hit a tractor-trailer truck on the tracks near the Broadway station in Burlingame about 7:30 a.m. today, causing trains in that area to be stopped in both directions while emergency crews race to the scene, officials said.
Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn said the express train, No. 312, left San Francisco at 6:50 a.m., stopped at the Millbrae station at 7:17 a.m. and was supposed to stop in Redwood City at 7:30 a.m.
According to Allan T****l, a San Jose computer engineer on his way to work in San Francisco, no estimate was given over the loud speaker as to when service would resume.
"I was trying to reduce my carbon footprint but now I really would like to drive,'' Teruel told the Mercury News, while standing at the Diridon station in San Jose -- stranded indefinitely in the South Bay. T****l knows he'll be late for his 9 a.m. business meeting with a customer and fired off an email to his colleagues about his situation.
Traffic stations may call the Caltrain Customer Service line for delay updates at 800.660.4287, but no information other than delay information will be available.
