Big Al sees strippers, golfers & tigers... oh my!

So I'm still here in Bangkok. This city rocks. There is so much to do. On Saturday we took a riverboat cruise and checked out a Wat (worship temple). We then were supposed to check out the Grand Palace (Bangkok's biggest temple), but some dude stopped us and told us it was closed - unfortunately we believed him. We are tricked into going into this jewelry store across town and Rita bought an emerald that probably wasn't worth the price that she paid. I didn't get tricked into buying anything, but rather I loaded up on their free beer and Ritz crackers. After realizing that this was a con, we went back on Sunday to the store to return it. She got lucky.

After the jewelry-con, we went to Mhuy Thai boxing. We saw a few fights including 2 knockouts. This show was pretty bad ass especially since we sat in the 3rd row. After the match I went to the store and stocked up on useless kickboxing gear.

On Monday, I checked out the Grand Palace and then Rita and I went to the Elephant and Crocodile show. This was pretty entertaining. They had the elephants playing games, reenacting wars and playing instruments and dancing. At the end we were able to feed them and have a ride on them for a little more than $1 USD. That night we also met Van from Sunnyvale. Pretty cool to meet an unexpected friend thousands of miles away. We're going to go out on Tuesday night to have some drinks and checkout the Bangkok skyline. Later that evening we checked out a strip/go-go dance club. It was pretty cool. I'll try to get pictures later.

On Tuesday, I went to the Fairtex Mhuy Thai kickboxing training camp. Pretty cool to see a bunch of folks train for the World Championships next week. I bought more useless kickboxing stuff. Afterwards, I went to play golf at the Royal Country Club outside of Bangkok. My play sucked, but I had a caddie which was really cool. Her name was Ko and she was so nice. I'd tee off and then we'd drive to my ball and all of a sudden she would say "one-fifty". The course was so beautiful. Water was in play for all 18 holes. I once hit a ball that barely rolled into the water and she went into the water to pick it up. Awesome! The green fee was about $20 USD - unbelievable. Anyways... until next time.

Big Al checks out Bangkok

So I've been in Bangkok for a couple of days and it's crazy - like Vegas, but on steroids. Forget Crazy Horse, forget Jaguars, for the Gardens... they have Pussy Palace. It's so crazy here. The guys are finding you in the market and trying to recruit you to come into their bar where the girls just hang out on stage. They tell you that you should check out a Ping Pong show where a girl shoots ping pong balls out of their moneymaker.

Anyways, they didn't let me take pictures of the inside, but I did hang out there for a few minutes with Rita. Other than that, I went shopping, got a massage (the kind without the happy ending) and took in the Jim Thompson house (a traditional Thai houes owned by an American).

Big Al visits Hong Kong

So Big Al is in Hong Kong right now. I got at 7:30am local time after ~20 hours flying. I luckily got upgraded to business class free of charge on Cathay Pacific so I had a pretty night of sleep.

Today I was able to check out the peak on Hong Kong Island (big surprise to me that Hong Kong is an island).

Right now I'm in an Internet cafe just checking up on email and wasting time until my flight for Bangkok takes off.

BTW: The SF Giants are 2-0 since Charlie Brown and I have taken this trip. Let's see howlucky this bobblehead can be.

Big Al's Big Thailand Adventure Begins

As of 4:30pm on Monday, 5/15/06 I am unemployed. I have absolutely no responsibilities. I am really happy and excited to begin my next chapter in my life.

Joining Big Al on his adventure is Rita from Philly. Scott aka Frenchy may be there - such a flake. I also have a fulfilled a request from T-Rom of Plano, TX. He suggested me to bring a gnome, but that was way too big, so I'm brining SF Giant's Charlie Brown of Peanuts fame.

As for the rest of you folks, you'll be able to visit the Far East with me through this blog. I will try to accomodate any suggestions, comments, requests, etc. so keep them coming through email, chat or comment space. Here's a few words from Big Al:

Shout outs to the McAfee crew: Steve, Awais, Usman, Asim & William.

Big Al gives shout outs to Gabbly.com

So I added Gabbly Chat today. This is a an awesome app. I highly recommend it to my fellow bloggers. Go check them out at www.gabbly.com

Big Al goes to Thailand

On Tuesday, 5/16 BigAlsHouse.com will leave for the land of many smiles - Thailand. There is no itinerary, no plans and very little packing involved - just lots of fun. This is going to be a totally interactive trip in which you, the loyal visitors of BigAlsHouse.com, will participate in my vacation. I have to do a little thinking about this, but I'm open to suggestions as to which city I'll visit next, what activity I should do, who/what I should take a picture with, etc. I'll open a chat box to make this a little more user-friendly. Stay tuned!

BTW: Rita, my friend from Torino is coming along so I'm pretty excited to meet up with her. Maybe Frenchy and Thuy will be there too. Me love u long time!

Big Al does Cinco de Drinko

A little bit of advice... don't become an alcoholic or you'll end up like this guy:

Anyways, the rest of the night was pretty cool hanging out with the FUCLA folks. Thanks to Neetha for the being the gracious host/babysitter/AA-consultant and bringing us out to NOLA's in Palo Alto. Big ups to Judd & Amanda for welcoming Gracelyn to this world on the morning of May 6, 2006.
