I will soon be forced into a career decision. I believe I will get an offer from a network security company this week. They are a very solid post-startup/pre-IPO company. They command great market share in the industry and they are seeking my expertise in the introduction and support of their security product. The question now is - do I take the position?

Pros of taking the position:
Change of pace
New learning of product
Career enhancement - something that I asked for, but did not receive in my current company
This company will IPO - $$$

Cons of taking the position:
New turf
New relationships to build
Leaving my comfort zone
Leaving a company that I spent almost 5 years with

Assuming that I get a competitive package, I think it is time for me to leave. We'll see what happens in the next few days.

Going to be in Plano, Texas this week. It's about 20-30 minutes north of the Dallas-Fort Worth Area. Got a little work to do there, but there's nothing too important. Going to eat at the Brazillian steak house - mmm good!

Going to Tahoe today for a party. I have tickets to the Raider's game on Sunday. Hopefully I'll make the kickoff.

Halloween was so awesome this year. I had a few parties to go to on Saturday. I ended up going to Judd's place before I went to the bar across the street. They were supposed to have a costume contest, but it was taking too long so I left. I later went to Mission Ale House to meet up with some co-workers and my old SCU friends.



On Monday night, we went to Studio 8 in San Jose. I was like a walking celebrity in my Stewie costume. I was being stopped every 5 minutes to get my picture taken.

Only 360 days to get my Halloween 2006 costume ready. Stewie is going to be tough to beat.

I haven't posted in a while, but I thought I'd drop a quick line. I've been reading Three Nights in August. It's a story of a 3 game series between the Cards & Cubs in 2003. It talks about the preparation, strategy and behind the scenes of a baseball series. Awesome book! I highly recommend for the baseball geek.

Only 3 more months until Spring Training begins!
